What we believe

What we believe

We are a United Methodist Church

Owens Cross Roads is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Theologically (how we talk about and understand God) we are Wesleyan. In other words, we like this guy named John Wesley. Wesley was an Anglican priest who believed in sharing the message of Jesus outside of the walls of the Church. Wesley is possibly most known for his belief in the grace of God as a transformative force inside of every believer. He believed that every believer should be growing in perfection. Perfection, according to him, is to be perfected in love...love of God and love of neighbor. That's why today the United Methodist Church states as it's mission that we exist "to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world."

In essentials unity, in non-essentials liberty, in all things charity.
